Wookie is HOME!

Wookie is HOME!

This is a photo from a few months ago. Hopefully, I can get some new shots of skinny, shaved Wookie this weekend

Wookie was discharged from Virginia Tech last night! During his discharge report, they told us that there is still a slim chance that he may have an obstruction somewhere in his small intestine - but it's doubtful. They are fairly certain all the "treat" is out of his system and he is on the road to recovery.

Last night, he was playful, affectionate and HUNGRY! He lost several pounds during his ordeal. For a pug that was already fit and trim, the weight loss was not a good thing. He is so underweight and gaunt right now, that the vet prescribed DOUBLE MEALS. We have to closely monitor his digestion over the next week and take him back to his regular vet next Thursday for a follow-up x-ray. If he does well for the whole week, the vet team will feel certain he is healthy again.

I am still not letting myself breathe that final sigh of relief. All through last night, I kept startling awake with the urge to check on him. I keep asking my husband "Does he look OK to you?" And every time he goes to lie down in his dog bed, I can't help but wonder if he's feeling sick. I guess I just need a little more time to actually SEE that he's recovering before I can feel at ease again.

Here we go again?

I've had weight loss shots before but none of them have ever really led to much. I've done Weight Watchers, I've done Rosemary Conley. Both have worked in their own ways but they haven't helped me to make the switch mentally to maintain healthier eating habits so....... Slimming World.

I feel like it's my last chance, if I can't do it this time will I ever? I'm doing it for Lissy too and that should give me the motivation I need.
